Imelda Paredes was born in the municipality of Tlalpujahua de Rayón, in the state of Michoacán. Since she was very young she began to follow her family’s tradition: the preparation of canned fruits. The recipes were passed down from her great-grandmother Tina Faustina, who around 1890 traveled from Tuxpan in order to bring canned food to the miners. In 1933 Imelda’s grandmother and her mother arrived in Tlalpujahua and their business has continued ever since.

There are more than 25 varieties canned food, such as peach, fig and chilacayote; among the most exotic we find nopal, strawberry and tomato. Imelda can be found in La Casa de la Preserva in the center of Tlalpujahua. She has also participated in several events “Cooks Encounters”.
